Product Introduction

The DME tank container is a dedicated pressure tank container designed for global multimodal transport, safe storage, distribution and handling of dimethyl ether (DME). It adopts a 20ft ISO standard frame, with a typical tank volume of 24,000L–26,000L and a design pressure of 1.8MPa, upgradeable to 2.2MPa upon request. Tank materials can be Q345R carbon steel, S30408 stainless steel or S31603 stainless steel, depending on product purity, moisture content, service life and project budget.

The tank container is specially engineered to address the polarity, swelling tendency and moisture-related corrosion risks of DME. All wetted seals are made of DME-compatible materials such as PTFE and FFKM, and dedicated liquefied gas valves are used. The product complies with ASME VIII Div.1, ADR/RID, IMDG, CSC and other international standards, making it suitable for sea, road and rail multimodal transport, as well as on-site storage, transfer and filling.

1.High safety: Equipped with spring-loaded safety relief valves, emergency shut-off valves, pressure gauges, thermometers and level gauges, providing multiple overpressure protection, emergency shut-off and leakage control.

2.DME-dedicated sealing: Wetted seals use high-performance materials such as PTFE and FFKM, preventing ordinary rubber from swelling and failing in DME service.

3.High-purity protection: Optional stainless steel tank body or special internal surface treatment reduces contamination from rust, particles and moisture.

Product Advantages

1.Optimized for DME, not simply a substitute for ordinary LPG tank containers

Ordinary LPG tank containers may have incompatible seals, mismatched relief valve settings and inaccurate level gauge calibration. This product is specially designed according to DME saturated vapor pressure curve, density and chemical properties to ensure safe operation.

2.High-strength manufacturing process

Main welds use automatic welding, and critical welds undergo 100% NDT (RT/UT/MT/PT). The tank is subjected to post-weld heat treatment, hydrostatic test, air tightness test and helium leak test to ensure welding quality and sealing performance.

3.Global certification and third-party inspection

BV, SGS or other third-party inspection is available. The product holds CSC, ASME, ADR, IMDG and other certifications, suitable for global delivery.

4.Fast delivery and modular design

Standard models take about 45–60 days to deliver, while customized models take about 60–90 days. Modular design supports future maintenance and rapid spare parts replacement.

Precautions

1.Pre-filling inspection: The tank container must be cleaned, purged and dried before filling, and oxygen content and dew point must be verified. For first use or media change, thorough cleaning and inerting are mandatory.

2.No overfilling: The filling quantity must strictly follow UN/IMDG regulations and the maximum filling ratio indicated on the tank nameplate to prevent abnormal pressure rise at elevated temperatures.

3.Seal material management: Do not use DME-incompatible materials such as nitrile rubber or ordinary rubber. During maintenance, only replace seals with PTFE, FFKM or certified DME-compatible materials.

4.Keep away from fire and heat sources: DME is a flammable gas. Keep away from open flames, static electricity, sparks and hot surfaces during loading, storage and transport.

5.Static grounding: Reliable grounding is required during filling and unloading. Use explosion-proof tools and prohibit non-explosion-proof electrical equipment in the operation area.

6.Avoid sun exposure overpressure: Avoid prolonged direct sunlight during transport and storage to prevent excessive tank temperature and unintended relief valve opening.

7.Periodic relief valve inspection: Safety relief valves must be calibrated regularly. Do not adjust the set pressure arbitrarily or block the relief valve outlet.

8.Purge before maintenance: Before hot work or tank entry, the medium must be drained, cleaned, purged and tested. Never perform maintenance under pressure.

9.Material compatibility: The tank container shall not be used for media incompatible with DME without prior cleaning. Mixing with oxidizers, strong acids and other incompatible substances is prohibited.

10.Leak emergency response: In case of leakage, immediately cut off gas and power sources, evacuate personnel upwind, dilute with water mist, and do not blindly plug the leak.
